DIY Slipcovers!
I had a sturdy loveseat that has been in storage for 4 years in a big barn in the backyard. It was my mom’s and was a basic classic design and sturdy – so I kept protesting anytime someone threatened to junk it.I knew I wanted to slipcover it but was just dreading it. Then I found “The Lazy Girl’s Guide to Making a Slipcover”! from Pink and Polka Dot. (Love that name!)
Downloading the ebook that had LOTS of pictures was all I needed to inspire me to get it done. We are offering the same Ebook that helped me make my dirty old loveseat into a delightful place to curl up and read a book!

I used heavy cotton natural colored canvas fabric I got at a textile mill sale. I also was thrilled to find big upholstery zippers at the same sale for only 1 buck! I found the cotton pom-pom fringe at the same place for only a buck a yard too! Yay! I love textile sales! The seat cushion already had a big zipper in it, so I recycled it since it was in good shape still!
I sat by the fire and hand-stitched the little quilted pillow from tiny squares (Just to get hand-sewing out of my system—I love to stitch with my hands!) and then added some charms to it and some hand-crocheted lace to the edge (my daughter crocheted it for me- so it is treasured lace!) and I crocheted the little flowers to embellish a few squares. I also hand-stitched the quilt – but don’t ask me how many years I drug it around in my sewing basket before I finished it...I am so happy to have this BIG project done and enjoy my recovered loveseat and pillows with matching lap quilt.

My only horrible goof was I washed all 13 yards (I bought too much- but it was a big textile sale...remember??) of cotton canvas at once..and dried it in a hot dryer...it didn’t get all dry and so I folded it up a bit damp and the entire 13 yards molded inbetween the folds – eeeeyaaayah!!!

But I had enough to cut and work around all the horrible molded spots on the brand new canvas ---whew!!
