Who doesn't have a refrigerator?

and I mean broken.  We didn't have the money to buy another and so we made do with a dorm size mini frig for a number of months.  Like MANY months!  I was really surprise at how much we REALLY have to keep refrigerated though.  There was NO room for leftovers unless we compacted them into zipper seal bags.  One milk and no more and some cheese and butter and sour cream - not much else fit!

I'm thankful today for a full sized refrigerator! It isn't fancy but it is cold and does the job!  Today we sent out a reminder to our HMS ladies about refrigerators.

Have you moved yours lately and had a peek under or behind it?  You might be in for a shock!  Dirt is very sneaky! :)

I am happy to say that today with the help of my little fellas that we pulled our refrigerator way out from the wall.  Unplugged it for the brief 15 minutes of work.
Swept, scrubbed and made the floor area under where the refrigerator sits all clean and tidy.
Found a recipe card or two that had been clipped on the fridge that had fallen down under/behind! oops!  Retreived them.
Cleaned all 4 sides and the top of the refrigerator with all purpose Charlies cleaner and a warm damp cloth.
Decluttered the magnets and stuff stuck to the front.
Put the cookie jar and tea pitchers back on top as that is 'their home'.
Pleased to have this behind me until it comes up again as my duty.

Dirt always returns! so we'll be at it again in about 6 weeks from now - but for now it is very tidy, clean and shiny! Whoohoo!
Hope this will spur you on to get yours back to bright and beautiful if it isn't already :)

Here is a cute/funny list re how to tell if food is still fresh in the refrigerator - Hope it makes you smile today ~
Maybe we should put on our list to clean the inside of the refrigerator next?  :)

                                                FOOD SPOILAGE TABLE

EGGS
When something starts pecking its way out of the shell, the egg is probably past its prime.
DAIRY PRODUCTS
Milk is spoiled when it starts to look like yogurt. Yogurt is spoiled when it starts to look like cottage cheese. Cottage cheese is spoiled when it starts to look like regular cheese. Regular cheese is nothing but spoiled milk anyway and can't get any more spoiled than it is already.
MAYONNAISE
If it makes you violently ill after you eat it, the mayonnaise is spoiled.
MEAT
If opening the refrigerator door causes stray animals from a three-block radius to congregate outside your house, the meat is spoiled.
LETTUCE
Bibb lettuce is spoiled when you can't get it off the bottom of the vegetable crisper without Comet.
CARROTS
A carrot that you can tie a clove hitch knot with it is not fresh.
CHIP DIP:
If you can take it out of its container and bounce it on the floor, it has gone bad.
GENERAL RULE OF THUMB - if you can't find it on this list:
Most food cannot be kept longer than the average life span of a hamster. Keep a hamster in your refrigerator to gauge this.
